If you thought the royal wedding was the most anticipated wedding of 2011, think again. Bella Swan’s walk down the aisle to Edward Cullen in the latest installment of the Twilight series seems to be causing an even bigger frenzy.
For those who don’t know: Bella’s wedding dress was designed by Carolina Herrera, who author Stephenie Meyer personally choose. The stunning custom gown was made out of crepe satin and French Chantilly Lace and featured 152 buttons along the back of the dress and 17 buttons along each sleeve. Incredible, right?
The gown is said to have taken over 6 months to complete and was worked on by four seamstresses. Its retail value is estimated at $35,000.
Fortunately, for those fans who want to get the look at a fraction of the price, bridal designer Alfred Angelo is selling a replica of the dress in stores for only $799.
Here’s where things get a little crazers:
Several bridal boutiques are reporting that throngs of desperate fans are making appointments at their stores and lying about being engaged just so they can try on the infamous wedding dress knock-off. Apparently they have no intention of buying anything and according to TMZ – they are making it extremely difficult for store employees to conduct business as usual.
Pretending to being engaged?!! We think that’s going a little overboard!
