‘Bobbie’s Buzz’, Hoda & Katie Lee and Matt Lauer! So what’s all this talk about Ryan Seacrest meeting with NBC executives to discuss taking over Matt’s spot on the #1 rated morning show?
According to reports, Seacrest did meet with the big wigs at NBC to explore a role on the hit morning show. Sources are saying that if Lauer decides not to renew his contract & relinquish his anchor duties after 14 years, that E!’s own Ryan Seacrest could potentially be his successor! (BTW — No one can take Matt’s place!)
Although Lauer’s contract doesn’t expire until end of 2012, there’s been lots of chatter that the popular anchor may follow in former co-host Meredith Vieira’s footsteps and leave the show.
Back in May, Lauer denied these rumors, saying “I have a long-term deal with NBC. … I’m gonna be here for a while.”
Still, Seacrest’s contract with E! and his overall deal with its parent company NBCUniversal expires early next year, so maybe he is exploring his options with the Today show.
If the 36-year-old American Idol host does want to join the Anny Curry, Al Roker and company, it would mean moving from Los Angeles to New York City. We gotta wonder how that would that impact his role on Idol?
Although, sources say these talks are in the preliminary stages, we’ll just have to keep our ears open.
