Nick Cannon discussed his recent illness, which he referred to as “mild kidney failure” on his first day back as host of his daily 92.3 NOW radio show.
Speaking to shock jock, Howard Stern, who called into the show, Cannon explained that at first they thought he had acute mountain sickness while vacationing in Aspen, Colorado with his family.
Then, it became clear that there was something more serious going on. “They thought it was kidney stones … then a kidney infection,” Cannon said “They found out my kidneys weren’t functioning well.”
He added, “We didn’t want to say ‘kidney failure’ so people would think I gotta get new kidneys and Gary Coleman and all that stuff, so we said ‘mild kidney failure.’”
Now he needs to drink plenty of water and take it easy. He has a “couple more procedures” to undergo. “Overall, I’m good,” he said. “I’m feeling 100 percent.”
Cannon, of course, dished on his famous wife Mariah Carey. He revealed how this frightening ordeal has made the pair even closer. The America’s Got Talent host, said, “”I’m happier than happy. Especially though this entire process, we’ve become so much closer … I even got a chance to see a different side of my wife where she became so nurturing. I’m in debt to her forever.”
