Getting the chance to kick off you shoes and run around is always an opportunity worth taking. But what if you didn’t have any shoes? In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie saw that many children in Argentina had no other choice but to go barefoot. Without shoes, the children were at risk for cuts and sores on their feet to become infected. In some cases, they couldn’t attend school because shoes were a required part of the uniform. In response, he created TOMS Shoes. In their “One for One Movement,” TOMS donates one pair of shoes to a child in need per every pair purchased. The brand has expanded to giving shoes to other children in countries around the world.
