The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding not only drew in millions of viewers and resulted in celebrations world-wide, it also raised $1.7 million for their chosen charities.
For those who wished to send Prince William and Kate Middleton a gift in honor of their nuptials, they were instead asked to make a donation. According to the Buckingham Palace, the couple drew in $1,706,828. Revenue included gifts, the money raised from the Royal Wedding Album, and sales from the official photograph of the newlyweds.
According to People Magazine, the 26 charities that will benefit from the fund were grouped into particular areas: Changing Lives through Arts and Sport; Children Fulfilling Their Potential; Help and Care at Home; Support for Service Personnel and Their Families; and Conservation for Future Generations.
