Finally! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s visit to Los Angeles has been revealed. Their United States tour will last from July 8-10 and will be packed with events! This will be Kate’s first overseas trip as a member of the Royal family so the entourage is being kept to a minimum as to not overwhelm her. The entourage includes: James Pryce (Kate’s hairdresser), a private press secretary, assistant private secretary, two more press secretaries, Prince Charles’ press secretary and Sir David Manning, an adviser and aide to the couple. We definitely think the press portion of the trip will be covered! If you’re planning on scheduling your Los Angeles trip around them, take a look at the below itinerary..
Friday, July 8: William and Kate will begin their LA three-day adventure at an evening reception on behalf of the United Kingdom Trade and Investment with the Consular-General. It will be held at the home of the government appointee who oversee’s the British business interests and start-ups overseas.
Saturday, July 9: Busy Day! William and Kate will make their way up to Santa Barbara where the Duke will play in a charity polo match to benefit the American Friends of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry. Along with showing us her fashionable choice, Kate will be presenting the winning team’s captain with the trophy from the match.
Later in the evening, the couple will attend black-tie dinner back in Los Angeles and a reception at the newly-reopened Belasco Theatre downtown. The event, “Brits to Watch”, is being held by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (the President of BAFTA is none other than Prince William himself!) and will showcase the most promising up-and-coming British Talent. All proceeds will go to continuing the promotion and support of emerging British talent in Los Angeles through future events, scholarships, and mentoring schemes.
Nigel Lythgoe (BAFTA L.A. chariman, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance? producer) said in a statement regarding the BAFTA dinner, “This very special event is an excellent extension of BAFTA’s charitable work in Los Angeles, and around the world. Promoting the individual and collective achievements of our most promising emerging British talent is such an important part of our remit, whilst encouraging goodwill for the UK and opening further opportunities for UK-US collaboration. Being given the opportunity of meeting Hollywood’s elite will provide a highly significant and beneficial moment for them, especially at such a formative stage of their careers.”
Sunday, July 10: Finally the couple can enjoy some leisure time! The morning is free for them to do as they please before heading out to the Inner-City Arts School.
One final stop. The newlyweds will stop at Sony Studios in Culver City to attend the Service Nation: Mission Serve job fair for veterans.
After that, they’re off! The Duke and Duchess will head back to London. BFF will be providing all updates on the much anticipated visit so make sure to check back!
